INTRODUCTION
Welcome to AniYu ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the AniYu mobile application and associated services (collectively, the "Platform").
AniYu is developed and operated by Aniyu Ventures, a business registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Business Name Registration No. 9158767). AniYu operates globally and this Privacy Policy is designed to comply with applicable data protection laws across all jurisdictions in which we operate, including but not limited to Nigeria, the European Union, the United States, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Southeast Asian territories.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Platform immediately.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
We collect information that you voluntarily provide when you register on the Platform, interact with its features, or contact us. This includes:
- Account Information: Your email address, username, and password when you create an account
- Profile Information: Profile picture (avatar), bio, and any personal details you choose to add to your profile
- Community Content: Posts, comments, reactions, and other content you submit to the community feed
- Reading and Viewing History: Manga titles and anime content you access, bookmark, or add to your favourites
- Communications: Any messages or correspondence you send to AniYu directly
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:
- Device Information: IP address, device type, operating system version, device manufacturer and model, and unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: Pages or features accessed, time spent on the Platform, content interaction data, and navigation patterns
- Language and Location Preferences: Your device language settings and approximate geographic region (derived from IP address)
- Diagnostic Data: Crash reports, error logs, and performance data used to improve the Platform
1.3 Information from Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services that may collect or process your information on our behalf:
- Google Firebase: Used for user authentication, real-time database hosting, and app analytics. Firebase may collect device identifiers and usage data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (R2): Used for secure cloud storage and content delivery. Cloudflare may process request metadata in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob: Used to serve advertisements on the free tier of the Platform. AdMob uses device identifiers, advertising IDs, and behavioural data to deliver targeted advertisements. You may opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings.
- Apple App Store and Google Play Store: Distribution platforms that may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
1.4 Tracking Technologies
We and our third-party partners, including Google AdMob and Firebase, use cookies, software development kits (SDKs), advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID and Apple IDFA), and similar tracking technologies to collect usage information, deliver advertising, and improve the Platform. You may manage your advertising preferences through your device settings at any time.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
2.1 Purposes of Processing
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Account Creation and Authentication: To create, manage, and secure your account on the Platform
- Service Delivery: To provide access to anime content, manga reading, offline downloads, and community features
- Community Features: To display your profile, posts, and comments to other users within the community feed
- Personalisation: To tailor content recommendations and user experience based on your preferences and usage history
- Advertising: To serve advertisements through Google AdMob on the free tier of the Platform
- Analytics and Improvement: To analyse usage trends, monitor Platform performance, identify bugs, and improve our services
- Communications: To send you service-related notifications, security alerts, and updates about the Platform
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal obligations
- Safety and Security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, and threats to the Platform or its users
2.2 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR and Equivalent Frameworks)
For users in the European Union, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions requiring a lawful basis for data processing, we process your personal data on the following legal grounds:
- Contractual Necessity: Processing required to provide the services you have requested, including account management, content delivery, and community features
- Legitimate Interests: Processing for analytics, security, fraud prevention, and Platform improvement, where our interests are not overridden by your rights
- Consent: Processing for advertising personalisation and non-essential tracking technologies, where you have provided explicit consent
- Legal Obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
Where we rely on consent as a legal basis, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.
3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
3.1 Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with trusted third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:
- Google Firebase (Alphabet Inc.) — Authentication, database, and analytics services
- Cloudflare Inc. — Cloud storage and content delivery network
- Google AdMob (Alphabet Inc.) — Advertising services on the free tier
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC — App distribution and in-app purchase processing
All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes for which it was disclosed and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
3.2 Independent Content Creators
If you interact with content submitted by independent manga or content creators on the Platform, limited interaction data (such as read counts and engagement metrics) may be shared with those creators in aggregated, non-personally identifiable form.
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information where required to do so by applicable law, court order, governmental request, or legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of AniYu, our users, or the public.
3.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of all or substantially all of AniYu's assets, your personal data may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your data.
3.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
4. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
AniYu operates globally. Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our third-party service providers such as Google Firebase and Cloudflare operate their infrastructure. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Where we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data transfer restrictions, we implement appropriate safeguards including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Data processing agreements with all third-party processors that include appropriate transfer mechanisms
- Reliance on adequacy decisions where applicable
By using the Platform, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction. We take all reasonable steps to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy wherever it is processed.
5. DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. The following general retention periods apply:
- Account Information: Retained for the duration of your account and deleted within 90 days of account termination
- Community Content (posts, comments): Retained for the duration of your account; removed within 30 days of account deletion unless required for legal purposes
- Usage and Analytics Data: Retained for up to 24 months in anonymised or aggregated form
- Diagnostic and Crash Data: Retained for up to 12 months
- Legal and Compliance Records: Retained for up to 7 years where required by applicable law
When personal data is no longer required, we will securely delete or anonymise it in accordance with applicable data protection standards.
6. DATA SECURITY
We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encrypted data transmission using industry-standard protocols
- Secure cloud infrastructure via Google Firebase and Cloudflare
- Access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only
- Regular security assessments and monitoring
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You transmit personal information to and from the Platform at your own risk. In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and applicable regulatory authorities as required by law.
7. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
7.1 Universal Rights
Regardless of your location, you have the right to:
- Request access to and obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
- Withdraw consent for processing activities based on consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
7.2 European Union and UK Users (GDPR)

7.4 California Users (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including:

- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (AniYu does not sell personal information)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights

7.5 Brazilian Users (LGPD)
If you are located in Brazil, you have rights under the Lei Geral de Protecao de Dados (LGPD) including rights of access, correction, anonymisation, portability, deletion, and information about sharing. To exercise your LGPD rights, contact us at aniyuhq@gmail.com.
7.6 Middle East Users
If you are located in the United Arab Emirates or Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we process your data in accordance with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 and the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) respectively. 7.7 Southeast Asian Users
If you are located in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Vietnam, we process your data in compliance with applicable local data protection laws including the Philippines Data Privacy Act, Indonesia Personal Data Protection Law, Thailand PDPA, and Malaysia Personal Data Protection Act. 7.8 Account Deletion
You may review, update, or delete your account at any time through the account settings within the Platform or by contacting us at aniyuhq@gmail.com. Upon a verified deletion request, we will deactivate and delete your account and associated personal data from our active databases within 90 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
AniYu is not directed to children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. For users in the United States, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will immediately deactivate the account and take reasonable steps to delete such data from our records. By using the Platform, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age, or that you are the parent or legal guardian of a minor user and have provided your consent for the minor's use of the Platform.

9. ADVERTISING AND YOUR CHOICES
AniYu's free tier is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may use advertising identifiers, cookies, and similar technologies to serve personalised advertisements based on your interests and usage behaviour.
You can manage your advertising preferences and opt out of personalised advertising at any time through the following methods:
- Android: Go to Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation
- iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking and disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"; or Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising and disable "Personalised Ads"
- Resetting your Advertising ID through your device settings
Please note that opting out of personalised advertising does not mean you will stop seeing advertisements. You will continue to see non-personalised ads while using the free tier of the Platform. 10. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the Platform. AniYu is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party services.
11. DATA PROTECTION AND CONTACT
AniYu is committed to responsible data governance. As we grow our global user base, we are actively working toward formal Data Protection Officer (DPO) designation in accordance with GDPR requirements applicable to our scale of operations.

We aim to respond to all privacy-related requests within 30 days of receipt. For complex requests, we may extend this period by an additional 60 days and will notify you accordingly.
12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you through in-app notification, email (where provided), or by updating the effective date at the top of this document.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed of how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
13. GOVERNING LAW
This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). Nothing in this clause limits the application of mandatory data protection laws in your jurisdiction where required by applicable law, including the GDPR for EU users and the CCPA for California residents.
